Position Purpose:
To provide supervision for campers and program specialists and ensure a safe environment for all waterfront (lake and pool) activities. Responsible for the Management of the physical operation of waterfront facilities and equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
Activities
Responsible for the planning of safe, fun, creative and progressive waterfront activities in line with camp philosophy.
Assist in the delivery of the planned activities whilst supporting program specialists.
Continuously evaluate activities and oversee any necessary changes to ensure the program is delivered safely and progressively maximizing the learning opportunities.
Supervision
Assist in the planning and implementation of training to waterfront program specialists
Responsible for communicating waterfront program specialist’s responsibilities to them and making clear your expectations.
Responsible for supervising waterfront program specialists in their delivery of the program to ensure it meets planned outcomes.
Schedule your waterfront program specialists into the appropriate activity to ensure it is delivered with the utmost safety and skill.
Facilities and Equipment
Set up waterfront facilities prior to and during staff training in line with the planned training program.
Be responsible for training waterfront program specialists on the safe and correct use of waterfront equipment.
Be responsible for daily checks of all waterfront facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness and good repair. Submit orders for supplies or additional equipment in a timely manner.
Be responsible for the daily cleaning of all waterfront facilities and checking they are free of debris and hazards.
Conduct initial and end of season inventory and store equipment for safety.

Adhere to and ensure others adhere to all safety and security rules and procedures. Set good examples all of the time to staff and campers in regard to teamwork, using initiative, being proactive and going the extra mile!
Other Duties Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communications as directed.
Assist in planning and participate in other camp activities as assigned such as evening activities, special events (in particular those at the waterfront) and other camp functions.
Adhere to and ensure others adhere to all safety and security rules and procedures.
Participate in management and staff meetings. Work with Camp Director and other administrative staff to develop program schedules, award programs, and leadership schedules.
Set good examples all of the time to staff and campers in relation to teamwork, using initiative, being proactive and going the extra mile!
Equipment Used
Qualifications and skill requirements Current First Aid/CPR Prior experience of similar duties at a waterfront similar to a camp. Prior experience in the planning of and implementation of recreational activities for children, Prior experience of supervising and scheduling assisting staff in the delivery of recreational activities. The ability to communicate effectively with children and assisting staff.
Physical Aspects of the Job
Be able to work within a team of campers and staff and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff where appropriate.
Ability to observe staff and camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
Ability to endure prolonged standing, bending, walking long distances, hiking, and stretching.
Necessary eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities.
The normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs.
Willing to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, etc.
