Desired Qualifications:

Age minimum is early to mid 20’s. College Degree
preferred. First Aid and CPR certifications preferred as well. Sufficient
experience working with campers and leading groups & activities. Excellent role
model for not only campers but for staff as well. Neat and professional
appearance. Agree to criminal background check.

Additional Qualifications:

College degree in leadership, child psychology,
education, family studies, special education, kinesiology, outdoor education, art
education, or anything involving children and education.

Experience:

At least two years working in the camp setting as a counselor

General and specific responsibilities:

Oversee counseling staff on specific
gender sides. Evaluate staff on counseling duties in and out of the cabin. Work
with counselors to better staff performance when given feedback. Observe and
note camper to camper behavior as well as a camper to counselor and vice versa.
Help campers with the adjustment of camp. Assist staff and director with camper
issues, i.e., homesickness, discipline, and/or family issues, etc. The heads will
also be in charge of the safety and environment of the campers. They will
conduct daily inspections of cabins for maintenance and hygiene concerns.
Ensure that proper supervision is taking place in the cabins. Oversee that the
cabin has a system in place for maintaining the hygiene and safety of the
campers. They will work with the program directors as needed to ensure safe
and productive activity areas. Work with the camp director to implement camp rules
and regulations.

Essential Functions:

Must possess strength and endurance required to maintain
constant supervision of campers and staff, able to observe camper and
counselor behavior, ability to assess the appropriateness of counselor and camper
interactions & behaviors, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures,
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other
hazards related to the camp activity. Able to assist campers in case of an
emergency. Must be able to problem-solve in a timely matter and be mentally
strong.
